80s Nostalgia creeping up on you? The reasons.
Why do we a humans also get waves of nostalgia for whatever happened 20 years previously? This recent decade has seen everything that was prevalent in the 80s pop up. Bands like Spandeau Ballet have just decided to reform for another go, and Kim Wilde's back out on tour again. Thrash metal, a subgenre of metal that died because of 90s grunge has dug itself out of the grave and continued its metal party with new thrash bands such as Evile and Municipal Waste popping up and 80's bands Kreator, Exodus and Testament are getting some much deserved recognintion. More bright coloured clothing and retro t-shirts are coming in, so why are we remembering the 80s with such fondness?
- You werent there. I was born in 1984, so my memories of the eighties dont result to much, i remember the ninties more. But thats my point -people werent they to experience it, so they will wonder at some point what it was like. Just dont ask your parents kids -may spoil the illusion.
- Music was fun in the 80s. Guitar solos, pyrotechnics and big hair all disappeared once the 90s can in, when music became all serious -a shame. Seemingly each decade takes a stand against what came before it, stopping the influx of one music genre and replacing it with something different. Plus the 80s didnt have Coldplay -the lucky gits.
- The credit crunch. We all need to have some fun before the credit crunch stresses us out too much, so escaping into the eighties for abit isnt a bad thing. We got the depressingtune of britpop in the 90s- so we cant go to escape there. Music and fashion needs to be fun again so we dont stress ourselves out too much, if only for afew hours before going back to worrying.
- A rebellion of the 90s, and a reflection of the times. Fashion and music relfects whats going on with our society in general at the time, and its also a opposite of what came before it. Which means only one thing:
I'm going to have to sit through a 90's revival in afew years time. Damn, delay this for as long as possible with some converse trainers and some cool t-shirts.
