Frets Fender

The Fender Bass Guitar Made Music History

In the 1950s, Fender released the very first mass-produced electric bass guitar that anyone could get to start their music career. From the very start, Fender's electric bass guitar became popular among countless professionals, especially when bassists Roy Johnson and William 'Monk' Montgomery along with band leader and visionary musician, Lionel Hampton, along with his talented bass players, are what significantly essentially made Fender electric bass guitar popular and respected among musicians. Within a moment of the Precision Bass being released by Fender, another electric bass guitar was introduced by Gibson. This new bass guitar looked more of a violin than the Fender bass. With the insertion of these two electric bass guitars, the music enterprise was permanently changed; electricity was now ingrained into the world of music.

Fender bass guitars have changed very little since their inception, despite a few aesthetic changes over the years. The original electric bass guitar models made by Leo Fender in the 1950's were such fine instruments that they have become classics. Today, those original models, as well as those from the next couple of decades, are greatly desired by musicians. Fender tested modifications with some models that were transformed from that basic model, and reviews were unfavorable. This experimenting proved that Fender hit the nail on the head with the original pattern.

Despite the huge conflict about which makes a better bass guitar, you can now locate bass guitars in many shapes and materials. It is really all a matter of what agrees with you best. Ebony and alder are exotic woods, but alternative materials along with graphite are rapidly becoming the more popular materials to utilize for bass bodies. Much like shoes, you will want to try a few basses out to discover which sound and tone you appreciate most. You can also decide if you want frets on your neck. This gives a unique effect on the guitar's sound, as a bass without frets will have the strings vibrate on the wooden neck itself.

Whether you prefer wood, graphite, frets, or no frets, bass guitar playing is a fun and crucial element in music that completes the full sound.

Frequently Asked Questions...

how do i lower the action on my fender starcaster guitar?

the strings seem to sit right around the nut - no buzz, nice feel, but the closer they get to the pickups the higher and higher they get, making anything over the 12th fret tough to play. i'm pretty much a beginner (6mo.) so i'm not much in the upper frets anyhow so should i maybe just leave it alone?

Answer:

Hello! Just lower the saddles a bit at the bridge. Insert a small hex key into the screws, and rotate counter-clockwise. Details on how to make these and other adjustments can be found at http://www.fender.com/support/stratocaster.php . Let me know if I can help further. Best regards, Dana
