ligfht would be the guage or diameter or thickness of the strings, "9" is the guage of your hi E string and is the lightest and sets the guages for your other five strings, 10 would be thicker 11 would be heaver also lights are the easiest on the fingers and are well more bright sounding than heaver set of strings... get some lights and you wont go wrong
