Fulltone Tape Echo: A Classic Echoplex Tape
Fulltone was founded in the year 1991 by Michael fuller who was a guitarist, composer, performer and electronic tinkerer. Fulltone pedals are constructed using hundred percent handmade items that are manufactured in southern California using high quality components which also includes custom-made 22-gauge copper wire without tin coating. The fulltone tape echo is designed to contain 3PDT switches and custom made brass shaft pots which is mounted using full tone’s proprietary using PCB method. It is said that the fulltone pedals are built for longevity.
The fulltone tape echo’s delay pedal is completely quiet as the electronics in them has been completely revamped. There is a top-panel mounted dual speed toggle switch to choose between hi-speed and low-speed operation. Hi-speed gives the player lot of highs, less bass and true repeat without pitch variation. The features that make the fulltone tube echo better is the big AC motors which are noisy and inefficient are replaced with servo-controlled hi-torque DC motor. This had not only made the machine quieter but also more stable and the size has come down to 1/4 of the original size.
The TTE uses a 2x 12AX7 tubes which can take up to 200 volts DC and supply the filaments with 12 volts DC to reduce the hum. The erase/Bias section function uses one electro harmonic 12AT7. This instrument does not contain any PCB mounted tubes or jacks. This instrument also features stereo outs and better head tapes. The TTE proprietary erase, record and playback heads which not only have a better frequency but also respond better than the older versions.
The Fulltone tube echo is loaded with an ETC-1 cartridge. The ETC-1 cartridge is loaded with vastly superior mastering quality tape loop which is constructed out of polyester backing and higher bias tape formulation. This take is constructed with two aspects in mind the durability and the longevity. The nickel plated stainless steel parts of the instrument enhance the appearance of the instrument. The TTE has full range echo sound which could be altered to the vintage as and how the individual want them.
